TF2 Chat Commands vs Console Commands: What's the Difference?

Team chat, voice commands, and developer console—what works in casual, competitive, and local servers.

TF2 uses team chat (`say_team`), voice menu binds (`voice_command`), and the developer console. None of these are the same as external ESP or aimbot software.

Chat and voice

Chat commands are limited to communication—callouts, taunts, and server rules. Competitive leagues may restrict certain binds; check league rules before automating taunt spam or macro chat.

Console-only actions

Only the console runs cvars like `cl_crosshaircolor`, `net_graph`, or (locally) `sv_cheats`. Server operators can lock cvars on community servers.

Third-party overlays

External loaders are a separate category entirely. Review third-party software risks before mixing overlays with streaming.
